"Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning."
-- Gloria Steinem
Do you remember reading Gloria Steinem’s classic book, Outrageous Acts and Everyday Rebellions for the first time – and how it made you think and feel? I was about twenty-one years old and its impact was transformative – as if a veil had been lifted from some hard truths I had been experiencing as a “powerless” young woman going out into the world. I wish I still had my original copy of that book. Instead my current soft-cover second edition is in perfect condition, and 'sans' precious red Bic underlining and page corner folds. More than thirty years after Gloria first published that book, at the age of 82 no less, we can still find our Maven Steinem in the forefront of the feminist movement; inspiring us to keep dreaming, planning, connecting with one another, and reaching for our full potential.
Recently, PowHERhouse Media founder, Charlene Sanjenko, invited me to help promote the launch of PowHER TV, a leadership plus lifestyle series airing on Shaw TV. The Vancouver launch party is taking place on January 25th 2017, AND, will feature the screening of the documentary film Dream, Girl - thanks to Cheryl Wheeler, one of the film investors. The event will feature a networking reception, an inspiring speakers’ panel and of course, the screening of the film. It’s going to be an inspiring and motivational evening!
If you are woman entrepreneur, artist, creator, innovator, or community leader, and in the Vancouver area in January, I encourage you to get a ticket to attend. They are purchased individually at only $49, and $29 for students. The event is a must. So Let's Dream + Plan 2017 together.
